Now that I’ve completed my list of selections, how do I
send it to Hooks Unlimited?
When sending your list, you must first change your sample size
to reflect the number of songs you wish to test. To change your
sample size, simply go to the ‘Options’ menu and select
‘Set Sample Size’. You should then make sure that
your sample size is the same as the number of songs you wish to
test. Your list should now be ready to send to Hooks Unlimited.
There are several options to choose from when sending your list.
The simplest and most common way is to transmit your file over
the Internet. Be sure that your internet connection is running
and choose ‘Send to Hooks Unlimited’. You will then
be prompted with several screens requesting information about
your test. You should fill out this information as completely
as possible and when all screens have been completed, choose ‘Send
Via Internet’. Your test list will then be transmitted to
Hooks Unlimited.
NOTE: Certain firewalls are now blocking the automatic ‘Send
Via Internet’ feature. Instead, choose ‘Save To Disk’,
and then click Send. A box will appear prompting you to save your
selections and test information in the c:\HS6 directory. Name
the file by the call letters and it will have a .zip extension.
Once saved, attach that file to an email and send it to hooks@hooks.com.
CLEAR CHANNEL stations – ZIP files are no longer transmittable
via your email system. To get around this, rename the file .zip
to .zap and then try sending it. We can rename and unzip the information
once we receive it. Call us at 770-452-4665 if you have any problems.

13. How do I randomize
my list?

to match the number of selections you have made. Once your sample
size is set, you must be sure that you are viewing your ‘Currently
Marked Songs’ (To switch views, you may choose from the
‘View’ menu). You are now ready to randomize your
list. Choose ‘Optimize Song Distribution’ from the
‘Edit’ menu. You will then be presented with a small
screen containing several default settings to which you should
answer ‘OK’. Your list will then be randomized within
several seconds. *If you choose the ‘Edit’ menu and

I would like to include non-randomized ‘as is’ pods
at the end of my list. How can I randomize only part of the list
and leave the ‘as is’ pods in order?
When incorporating ‘as-is’ pods to your list, there
are several simple steps to take. First, you should complete the
library portion (or non-‘as-is’ list) as usual. When
this portion of the list has been selected, be sure to set your
sample size to equal the number of songs you have selected and
then randomize. If you need help with randomization, please refer
to FAQ 13. When your randomization is finished, you should increase
your sample size and begin selecting the ‘as-is’ pods.

is received?

a floppy drive. How can I send my list to Hooks Unlimited?
In the event that your computer does not have a floppy drive you
will need to do the following in order to send your list to Hooks
Unlimited. First, be sure to set your sample size to reflect the
number of titles you have chosen by going to the ‘Options’
menu (F5) and selecting ‘Set Sample Size’. Next, randomize
your list (for information on randomization/optimization, please
refer to FAQ 13). Once these steps have been accomplished, be
sure to have ‘Currently Marked Songs’ as the active
view (alt-2) and choose ‘Save’ (F7) followed by ‘Export’.
Name your file and choose the location to which it will be saved
on your computer (you may want to give your file a name including
your call letters and the date to avoid any confusion). Finally,
start up your email program and send a message to Hooks Unlimited
(hooks@hooks.com) containing
the export file of your list as an attachment. Also try to include
pertinent information about your test in the body of the email
(test date, research firm, any custom layout information, destination
of tape delivery, etc.) as this will help clear up any ambiguities
that may arise from not utilizing the ‘Send to Hooks Unlimited’
feature.
