2. How do
I load the .exp file from my last job?
2.1 - You may request that Hooks Unlimited
send you the list from your last test. The list will arrive to you
via e-mail and will be a HookSelect export file (.exp). To open this
list in HookSelect, you will need to save the .exp file on your computer,
then open HookSelect and enter a session (we suggest that you create
a new session). If you create a new session, you can set the initial
sample size to any number. Once inside, select 'File' then 'Open'
then 'Load New Selections'. Find the HookSelect export file (.exp)
and select 'Open'. From the next window, check 'Replace' and then
'Load'. The list will appear in the 'Currently Marked Songs' window.

3. How do
I send Hooks Unlimited my list once I have selected all titles?
If you have an internet connection, HookSelect can send the list
from the program. There are a few steps that you should follow in
order to ensure that the list arrives at Hooks Unlimited.
3.1 - Before the list can be sent, the sample
size must match the number of songs selected

To change the sample size, select from the 'Options' then
'Set Sample Size'. Change the sample size to match the number of
currently marked songs.

3.2 - With the sample size equal to the number
of selected songs, you are now ready to choose 'File' and then 'Send
to Hooks Unlimited'. The program will ask if you would like to optimize
(randomize) your list--if you have not already optimized your list,
please do so now. HookSelect will insert certain parameters into
the 'Optimization Parameters' fields; we suggest that you leave
these as they appear--simply click 'Ok'.

4. The program
crashed or had an error when I tried to send my list, what do I
do?
There can be many causes to such an error:
internal server error, external server error, etc. If your list
is successfully sent, you will receive a message confirming that
the list transfer was successful. If you do not receive a confirmation
message, you will need to send us your list via e-mail.
Method 1:
To send the list via e-mail, we must first locate the necessary
file to send. Click the 'Start' button in the lower left corner
of the screen then 'Find' and then 'Files or Folders'. In the 'Named'
field enter: "*.pkg"; this will search for any file with
an extension of '.pkg'. The search will likely find a file in the
c:\hs6 folder that is named the same as the HookSelect session of
your list (For example, if the session was named 'TEST', the file
will be named TEST.pkg).

Method 2:
If the .pkg file is not present in the c:\hs6 folder, open
HookSelect and repeat the steps for sending from the program ('File',
'Send to Hooks Unlimited', etc.). In the last step, instead of choosing
'Send via Internet' choose 'Save to disk'. You will have the chance
to name and save the file--please remember the name and where you
chose to save the file. Then attach this file to an e-mail and send
to hooks@hooks.com.

Method 3:
If you are unable to send by the two methods described
above, open HookSelect, enter the session, and left click the mouse
in the 'currently marked songs' window (to make it the active window).
Select 'File' and then 'Save As'. Make sure that 'Currently Marked
Songs' is in the 'Save this view' field and that the file type is
'HookSelect Export'. Select 'Next' and then name and save the file
to your hard drive. Attach this file to an e-mail and send to hooks@hooks.com.
In the body of the e-mail, please provide information concerning
the test: date of test, research company, tape format and layout,
etc.

5. How do
I update my HookSelect library to include the newer songs?
5.1 - HookSelect library
updates are available online from here.
Right click the link for the update (HS6Data.exe) and select 'Save
Target As'. The next window will allow you to choose where you would
like to save this file; we suggest that you save it into the Hs6
folder.

NOTE: Netscape users will select 'Save link as' in lieu
of 'Save target as' upon right-clicking the HS6Data.exe link.
5.2 - Once the download is complete, you will
need to either:
A) Open a Windows Explorer and locate this file. Once you locate
the file, double click it (HS6Data.exe).
-or-
B) From the Start button, select 'Find' and then 'Files or Folders'.
Enter the information into the 'Find' window as outlined below.
Once the file has been located and appears in the lower part of
the 'Find' window, double click it.

5.3 - Once you have run Hs6Data.exe, you will
now need to find HookData.exe (either through Windows Explorer or
by the 'Find' function). HookData.exe should appear in the same
directory as Hs6Data.exe. The following picture shows how to locate
the file using 'Find'. Once you have located the file, double click
it; Hookdata.exe will walk you through the final steps of the updating
procedure.
